When we feel that we have been abused, when people have treated us with violence, anger, hatred, discrimination then a block of suffering is within us. The negative energy is in us. And if you don’t know how to handle and transform the violence within us then that violence will destroy us and the people we love. The criminals, the terrorist, they have not been able to transform the violence. We...

I am stuck in a job situation where I am purposely being isolated, gaslit, and excluded. Yet I stay because I fear letting go. This video popped up on my feed this evening. Thank you, this is the gem I needed to hear!!!

Very educative. I love your videos. Please allow me to interrupt. I know it is rude but I feel it’s my duty to inform Buddhists of what I know. I do research on how Buddhism disappeared in Bihar. I realized it never disappeared from Bihar. Buddhists simply failed to research Indian Buddhism. They looked at Buddhism through the sphere of their own cultures searching for only the Buddha. Buddha had a myriad of names in different villages according to his teachings there. Example. His favorite teaching was 'Lust and desire causes pain. Remove lust and desire, and pain is removed'. Translated into Bihari (where the Buddha story took place) it is DHUKH HARAN meaning to remove dukha. Three dozen villages pray to DUKH HARAN Baba. Its clear that DUKH HARAN Baba is none other than the Buddha. Problem is Buddhists are searching only for the Buddha. In the real Vaishali the Buddha begged for alms. The locals there pray to 'BHIKHAINI' Baba (Beggar Baba). Bhikhaini was mispronounced by Buddhists as Bhikshu. Who is BHIKHAINI Baba. The Buddha no doubt. But people are searching for a man called Buddha. In the real Vaishali, in Beluha the Buddha suffered a sickness and felt he had grown old. The locals pray to 'BURHA' Baba (Old Baba). Who is BURHA Baba. The Buddha no doubt. In the real Vaishali the Lichavies pressurized Buddha not to die. They trailed him to Bandagawan pressurizing him not to die. To put pressure in Hindi is DABESHWAR. Three dozen villages around the stupa where Buddha gave the Lichavies his patra, the villagers pray to Baba 'DABESHWAR NATH' meaning the man who won the pressurizing game. It was the the Buddha no doubt as he gave the Lichavies his patra and succeded in sending them back. But Buddhists are searching for the Buddha. In Pidhauli (Vaishali) the local deity is Bardiha Baba. Bardiha means the Baba who didn't allow us to stay where he was staying. Bardiha Baba is the Buddha no doubt because he didn't allow the crowd of Lichavies to stay with him in Bandagama. Forgive me for commenting out of the topic. I just wanted to impart this information to you. I have just videographed Maha Prajapati Gautamies Parinirvana temple. Americans can't simply let go. We're in a perpetual state of conflict because of our belief systems. The harder we struggle, the more we break things. Our political system is broken. Our spiritual belief systems are beyond reach. Even Vietnam has fallen into the grasp and temptation of Western Capitalism. This world is moving towards a state where letting go will be impossible. This is because of our attachments to wealth and money. Even if we take away the money factor, we could never let go of our values that makes us who we are. Sorry, but most of us are trapped.

I feel your pain. I’ve found some hope in the work of attempts to create economic democracy through worker cooperatives (cooperation jackson is a great example). If we collectively own and control the places where we work we have a better chance of acting in the collective interest, and letting go of the false competitiveness with each other that the capitalist market produces. I’m a student of Thay and trying to do similar work in Australia. It’s challenging but very personally meaningful. Be well!

@E Coffey Best of luck to you and all the beautiful souls in Australia. America is crazy and may have past the point of no return decades ago. I guess we'll see if the great US will collapse or not come this November. I can't remember when this country was last well and by now I don't think Americans even think of ways to be well anymore. Everyone is in survival mode and living one day at a time. Take care and I hope the corruption of Americans never reach Australia.

@@supersquirrel7546 That sounds deeply troubling and challenging. I'm definitely aware of the crises in the US, and US politics does impact our public discourse in both good and bad ways, but not living there I am more detached from the 'feeling' on the ground. I hope you can find some people around you doing good to help you feel less isolated, and nurture the seeds that can help us in the future when the system as it is inevitably collapses.

Letting go is a wonderful practise that brings freedom, joy and peace. My attachments has caused me to suffer a lot. If we are honest with ourself, we might see our attachments that cause us to suffer. Letting go is hard many times, but u can do it! U deserve to suffer less. We all do! I still work on them. And i know for a fact its obstacles for my joy and happiness.. I hope u all have a great life with much joy and happiness! We are all pretty much the same and are here with each other. Nobody deserve to overwhelm with suffering, my feeling is that such a person like this is very important for us right now. He helped me to realise that my running towards objects of craving is a hinderance for my peace and happiness. Many of us suffer, as my self. This man learned me that suffering is not bad, cuz if u know how ot suffer. U suffer less.. I wish u all peace, joy and happiness and dont feel weak if u suffer. Without suffering u cannot know happiness.

Death cannot part you from the one you love .❤ ,for love will always claim its own .Your sorrow is based on ignorance .With knowledge you could be sure that the one you love ❤ is closer than ever he or she has been before .You could taste some of the joy that comes with appreciation of an understanding of spiritual reality . Do not mourn because a caterpillar has become a beauteous butterfly .Do not weep because the cage has been opened and the bird has been set free ! Rejoice and know that the enfranchisement soul has found liberty and that ,if you would but unfold the powers that the Great Spirit has given you,you could share some of the new beauty and joy which is theirs .You could understand the plan of death and realise that death s but a stepping stone,a door through which you enter into the larger freedom of realms of the spirit ...

I stumbled upon Thay’s teachings six months ago when I was diagnosed with cancer DBLCL ! And my life has been HELL ever since. Thay says the present is made of the past. My past is different from his obviously. And because of that, our present will be as well which will influence how we deal with this emotion. My practice is only 1/10th of his so a lot of his teachings aren’t easily absorbed and applying them is difficult.

However suicide doesn't emerge because of a very impermanent 30 minutes emotion. It comes from the conviction that a painful feeling will never go away. Certainly having practice from the beginning will help, otherwise I find it very hard to handle.

i agree. but that's actually a symptom of depression, and reframing your mind towards the emotion as something that isn't just "you" can be really healing for some folks. it's very easy for these works to end up confusing and lead people into dissociation and depression, but he really is talking more about acknowledging the real pain of it while acknowledging any individual emotion or collection of them isn't you as a whole. i have PTSD and it may never really go away, but fearing never being able to heal and thinking i would be a victim forever was actually really stopping me from examining anything i went through and trying to face it. i feel kind of ridiculously better now. i promise that voice or feeling is a symptom, not a truth. it's a jacked up intuition because of how long the storm has lasted. but it's something to be overcome and it can be. sometimes really slowly, but sunsets and soft serve ice cream and good movies and doing fun things that you enjoy are worth working towards, in my opinion. edit: i should say this isn't this one video, it's been years since i started watching this stuff, and at one point i even hated it and thought they were being pointless. but they're really not. it only feels that way because the Big Bad Depression Monster really, REALLY wants us all to think nobody could possibly understand that and still say it will be ok. but... this guy had to leave his home. he's been through so much. there's no way he doesn't understand.
